Advanced Engine Combustion Summer School - "From conventional combustion to HCCI and CAI"

17-28 July 2006
IFP School/Rueil-Malmaison

Advanced Engine Combustion Summer School

From July 17 to 28, 2006 the first ever European Summer School devoted entirely to engine combustion processes was held at IFP (Summer School "Advanced Engine Combustion - From conventional combustion to HCCI and CAI"). The program, organized by the IFP School with its European partners as part of the training component of the "ECO-Engines" (Energy COnversion in Engines) network of excellence, was a great success, welcoming 80 participants representing 14 different countries (Europe and the USA). Sponsored by the Tuck Foundation and ADEME (Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Energie - Agency for the Environment and Energy Management), 27 students from 14 European universities were given the opportunity to attend the full program, alongside professionals from 23 companies (automobile manufacturers, vehicle equipment suppliers, oil companies and R&D laboratories).
The structure of this highly original training program, at the cutting edge of engine development, is based on a unique combination of trainer skills bringing together some of the top European experts in the field: IFP School (France), Lund Institute of Technology (Sweden), Brunel University (UK), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Reaction Engineering Solutions (UK), Universität Duisburg-Essen (Germany), Université Pierre et Marie Curie (France), Universidad Politecnica di Valencia (Spain), Warsaw University (Poland).
