IFP and the OAPEC jointly organize a regular international seminar dealing with world oil-related problems currently making the headlines.
This seminar was open to oil and gas company specialists, service companies, research centers and independents.
Recent price pressure on crude oil and oil products is linked to a deficit of upstream (oil production) and downstream (oil refining) capacities to fill demand resulting from a lack of investments over an extended period of time. In addition, oil derived product specifications are changing to conform to the needs of advanced automobile engines and to drastically reduce emissions.
The 2006 seminar focused on the downstream conversion technologies best adapted to respond to distillate products demand, and the refinery improvements required to adapt existing facilities to produce the products meeting future marketing constraints.
