IFP is working to improve the yields of petrochemical processes and the purity of the resulting intermediates. Its research focuses mainly on:
With regard to aromatics, IFP is focusing on the development of new adsorbents that maximize the purity of products derived from xylene separation.
A new, more efficient molecular sieve which was designed using cutting-edge techniques, notably molecular modelling, was validated in 2005. The sieve was commercialized by Axens in 2006.
Again in 2005, a new zeolithic catalyst was developed for the LAB production line. In this case, the objective was to cut production line costs and ensure better product biodegradability.
