Hydrogen
The use of hydrogen as a fuel is one of the options being considered as an alternative solution to replace oil. However, a number of hurdles linked to the production, distribution and storage of hydrogen still need to be overcome.
IFP is focusing its R&D on production methods, and ways to reduce the cost of hydrogen transport.
ANR Projects
Ready (2005-2008) - prediction and reduction of pressure losses during hydrogen transport – a project led by IFP and being conducted jointly with Arkema, BS Coating, GDF Suez and CNRS LMM. ANR-05-PANH-010
Polhytube ( 2006 -2009) - development and study of innovative materials for hydrogen distribution networks – a project led by IFP and being conducted jointly with CEA, ENSMA, IMP GEMPPM, Air Liquide and Arkema. ANR-06-PANH-00
Ecotranshy (2006-2008) - economic models for the deployment of transport networks / hydrogen distribution – a project led by GDF Suez and being conducted jointly with Total, IFP and ULCO-IMN. ANR-06-PANH-01
