Research theme: lowering the costs of liquefaction of gas through specific innovations.

Service: the Liquefin process, developed by IFP and distributed by Axens. This process produces LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) less expensively than other processes, reliably, safely, and without harm to the environment.
GTL (Gas to Liquid)

Research theme: development of a Fischer-Tropsch type chemical conversion process in the context of European collaborations.
- This process produces a mixture of high-molecular-weight paraffin waxes. After hydroisomerizing hydrocracking, this mixture yields naphtha, gas oil, and kerosene cuts, bases for lubricants, waxes, and other specialty products that are very environment-friendly because they are especially pure.

A pilot installation (capacity 20 barrels of fuel a day) based on an advanced technology is in operation at the AgipPetroli refinery in Sannazzaro de Burgondi (Italy).
