IFP investigates such petrochemical feedstocks as light olefins (C2-C4) and monoaromatics. Its work concerns the production, purification, and transformation of these feedstocks.
To meet the requirements of sustainable development, IFP's teams are diversifying their research. They use the skills acquired in biofuels and their byproducts, which are ex-biomass chemical intermediates of the first importance.
With its many processes under license, IFP holds a dominant position in the selective hydrogenation of olefinic cuts from steam cracking and catalytic cracking streams. Complementary processes serve to remove other impurities (arsenic, mercury) and transform light olefins into high-added-valued building-block petrochemicals.
