• 1,737 total full-time equivalent workforce for 2009 , including 1,173 researchers (managers and technicians). 45% of the managers hold doctoral degrees and some fifty researchers hold a national accreditation to direct research (HDR). In addition, IFP Energies nouvelles hosts an average of 157 doctoral students and 27 post-doctoral researchers per year.

• € 307,8 million operating expenses including €249 million for R&D

• 182 basic patent applications in 2009 , including 98 in the field of new energy technologies and 850 rights created abroad. The total portfolio represents 13,518 active patents meaning that IFP Energies nouvelles is ranked amongst the top 10 patent applicants in France according to the number of patents published by INPI (Institut national de la propriété industrielle) in 2009. In addition, IFP Energies nouvelles is the 8th largest French patent applicant in the United States (with 91 patents granted in 2008).

• 305 articles published in international scientific journals , including 232 listed in the Thomson-Reuters ISI database. In addition, three new books written by IFP Energies nouvelles researchers were published in 2009
