IFP in 2008

• 1,710 total full-time equivalent workforce for 2008, including 1,109 researchers (managers and technicians). 42% of the managers hold doctoral degrees and some fifty researchers hold a national accreditation to direct research (HDR).

• € 286.2 million operating expenses including €238.2 million for R&D

• 183 basic patent applications in 2008 (a record number for IFP since its inception), including 78 in the field of new energy technologies and 820 rights created abroad. The total portfolio represents 13,518 active patents meaning that IFP is ranked amongst the top 12 patent applicants in France according to the number of patents published by INPI (Institut national de la propriété industrielle) in 2007. In addition, IFP is the 6th largest French patent applicant in the United States (with 91 patents granted in 2007).

• 226 articles published in international scientific journals, including 196 listed in the Thomson-Reuters ISI database. In addition, four new books written by IFP researchers were published in 2008
