A snapshot of IFP in 2006:
- 1,735 employees
The total full-time-equivalent headcount. That figure includes 1,173 research technicians and managers. A total 44.3% of our managers hold doctorates, and about 50 of our researchers hold national accreditations to direct research (HDR).
- €299.4 million in operating expenses
Research and development alone accounts for €246.2 million. We finance our operations with:
- budget allocations (€167.5 million),
- other products (€98.4 million),
- dividends (€26.6 million).
- 145 first patents filed
Inter alia, we filed 39 patents in the field of new energy technologies in 2006. We also created 777 rights abroad, hold 12,652 active patents in our portfolio, and rank among France’s top 15 patent filers based on 2006 French national industrial-property institute (INPI – Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle) figures. We were France’s sixth-most-active patent applicant in the USA in 2004.
- 205 articles published
IFP staff published 205 articles in international scientific publications, 152 of which were included in the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) database. IFP researchers also published four new books in 2006.
