Low CO2 gasoline engines
|
|
"Various solutions are available today to efficiently reduce gasoline engine CO2 emissions. Some of these solutions are already in production such as the downsizing approach which combines a reduction in engine displacement with turbocharging and lean burn combustion..."

Les Rendez-vous Carnot/ R&D Network 2008
19-20 March 2008 |
|
The Institut Carnot IFP-Moteurs participated at this event which took place in Versailles, France with the support of ANRT (the National Association of Technical Research). The objective was to connect, via business meetings, lectures and round tables, Carnot Institutes and industrial players looking to create R&D partnerships.

AEA Congress
|
|
IFP recently contributed with 3 publications to the 2008 Congress on Alternative Energies for the Automotive Industry which was held in Poitiers, France. During this congress, which was dedicated to mobility and clean transport, ride & drive sessions of clean vehicles were organized including test drives of the NGV mild-hybrid urban concept Vehgan presented by IFP, Valeo and Gaz de France.

IFP joined in 2007 the new aeronautic AstECH cluster in the Ile-de-France region and work is in progress to build an aeronautic bio-fuel project.
IFP's latest consortium "Ethanol for Diesel" will soon complete its 1st year programme. The purpose is to study the feasibility and the potential of using ethanol for the formulation of Diesel fuels.
IFP's high dynamic engine test bench has demonstrated over the last year the potential of the Morphée 2 automation software. Morphée 2, a co-development of IFP and D2t, allows the complete automation of the test cell: real time supervision, data acquisition and control system.
IFP will be equipped from spring 2008 with a new "Serviware" configuration offering a peak computation power of 17 TFlops (vs 3.5 TFlops today). This will translate into higher productivity and state of the art computational capabilities to help industrial partners address the great technical challenges in engine combustion, pollution reduction or hybridization.
A new engine lubricant evaluation test for long drain applications developed by IFP for Renault.
"IFP's strengths in the following areas have oriented our decision to work with IFP for engine lubricants ageing testing.
- IFP's methodologies in this domain and a good understanding of OEMs needs
- IFP's proximity with Renault engineering teams
- IFP's competitive commercial offer to develop this test procedure".
David Kieken, Renault - Core Engine Reliability Manager
