Les Rencontres Scientifiques de l'IFP : "Research Advances in Rational Design of Catalysts and Sorbents"

14-16 December 2005
IFP-Lyon

Research Advances in Rational Design of Catalysts and Sorbents

The "Research Advances in Rational Design of Catalysts and Sorbents" international conference was held in IFP-Lyon (France) from 14 to 16 December 2005, under the auspices of the French Academy of Sciences.

165 participants coming from 20 different countries attended those three days of intensive and high scientific level program : 27 oral presentations by international experts and 46 posters session.
A round table with six international experts has been held on the molecular modeling and High-Throughput Experimentation versus the challenges of catalysts, chemicals and other materials design. A visit of IPF-Lyon laboratories concluded this international conference acknowledged by all as a great success.

The objectives of this conference was to highlight and discuss the recent achievements of combined experimental and molecular modeling approaches in research on catalysts and sorbents.
The presentations have contributed to the growing awareness of the scientific community of the key issue of rational design of these materials.

The program consisted in 4 sessions:

  • Active sites, mechanisms and kinetics
  • Chemical trends and the discovery of new catalysts
  • Support effects in catalysis
  • Adsorption and confinement
