Organized by the IFP School and its European partners within the context of the Education & Training plan of the ECO-Engines Network of Excellence, the first European Summer School "Advanced Engine Combustion - From conventional combustion to HCCI and CAI" will take place at IFP, Rueil-Malmaison (near Paris) from 17 to 28 July 2006.
The intended audience is open to professional engineers who wish to extend or deepen their knowledge of new generation engine combustion processes, technologies and experimental techniques, and to students with a Masters level knowledge in engineering studying at a partner institution within the ECO-Engines network.
The programme is divided in 4 modules :
O = General principles of new generation engine combustion processes
A = Engine technologies associated with new generation engine combustion processes
B = Modelling of new generation engine combustion processes
C = Experimental techniques for new generation engine combustion processes
You will find all information and terms of admission in the circular on IFP website

The ECO-Engines (Energy Conversion in Engines) Network of Excellence was conceived in 2003 under the European Community Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP6). The objectives of ECO-Engines project are to structure EU research and training in new engine technologies leading to high efficiency, low noise, low CO2 and near zero pollutant emissions in road transport. In particular, the project will focus on emerging high potential techniques such as HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) and CAI (Controlled Auto-Ignition) and include alternative and renewable fuels.
The group of contributing institutions is based on a unique combination of various expertises that cannot be found elsewhere in any single place : IFP School (France, www.ifp-school.com), Brunel University (UK, www.brunel.ac.uk), Lund Institute of Technology (Sweden, www.forbrf.lth.se), Politecnico di Milano (Italy, www.polimi.it), Reaction Engineering Solutions (UK, www.resolutionsltd.com), Universität Duisburg-Essen (Germany, www.vug.uni-duisburg.de), Université P&M Curie (France, www.lmp.jussieu.fr), Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (Spain, www.cmt.upv.es), Warsaw University of Technology (Poland, www.pw.edu.pl).
