First Regional Symposium on Carbon Management Challenges and Opportunities for the Petroleum Industry

The First Regional Symposium on Carbon Management was hosted by Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, during the period of May 22-24, 2006. The symposium did include technical presentations and panel discussions to address the symposium's main theme: "Carbon Management Challenges and Opportunities for the Petroleum Industry".

Internationally recognized speakers from around the world have delivered keynote presentations discussing mid to long term global energy and CO₂ emissions outlook. The symposium has also included technical presentations discussing technologies to capture CO₂ from industrial sources, reducing CO₂ emissions from the transportation sector, utilizing CO₂ to enhance oil recovery, storing CO₂ in subsurface geological formations, research and industry alliances to address various technological aspects of carbon management, applying CDM to carbon management and other relevant topics.

• 24 May a.m.: "Reducing CO₂ emissions from Land Transportation: IC Engine Design Considerations" - Dominique Herrier
• 24 May a.m.: "Long Term Geological Storage of CO₂ in Mature Oil Field" - Yann Le Gallo
