Activities and markets

Created by the 1992 merger of two companies founded by IFP Energies nouvelles, in 1967 and 1960, Beicip-Franlab provides global solutions in oil and gas Exploration-Production.
Its activities, almost all of them international, are organized around two main themes:
- "consulting": Beicip-Franlab performs studies to characterize basins and model petroleum deposits.
- "software": the company publishes and markets software, generally developed in association with IFP Energies nouvelles, for use in Exploration-Production studies.
 

Highlights of 2009

Beicip-Franlab managed to sustain its activity throughout 2009 – marked by an increase in its consultancy activities – despite a slowdown in business experienced by many of its customers during the first half of the year. New field study contracts were signed with stateowned companies in Angola and the Middle East, while the exploration of unconventional oils continued. Beicip-Franlab's profile in the oil field sector was confirmed with the signing of the contract to study one of the world's biggest fields in the Middle-East, the continuing field studies being conducted within the framework of long-term contracts – particularly in Algeria and Venezuela –, and by the signing of new long-term contracts with, among others, KOC and Petrobras. Finally, it is worth noting the development of the theme of enhanced recovery in the study services conducted in the Middle East. Where software is concerned, 2009 was marked by the marketing of version 2.0 of the new generation of OpenFlowSuite TM software solutions. A significant contract was signed with respect to the PumaFlowTM field simulator and the CondorFlowTM assisted optimization loop with a state-owned company in the Middle East. Finally, the fractured field modeling tool, FracaFlowTM, confirmed its position as market leader. Also worthy of mention is the creation in 2009 of a Russian subsidiary, based in Moscow, which will enable Beicip-Franlab to develop software and study business in the country.
