Demeter is a capital fund that acquires participations in companies in the eco-industry sector (water, air, and waste treatment), the eco-energy sector (energy management, renewable energies) and the safety of the living environment sector (prevention of industrial, natural, and medical risks) in order to finance their growth.
Its management team, Demeter Partners, intervenes mainly in companies in the "expansion development" stage, as a minority shareholder alongside the executives.
The fund gives priority to European SMEs, in particular in France, Germany and Spain.
- Demeter
During the course of 2008, Demeter invested €34.5 million in six companies: Methaneo (a company that develops methanization units), Burgeap (a consultancy in the field of the environment and energy control), JMB Énergie (a renewable energy producer), Sulfurcell (photovoltaic modules), Le Floch Dépollution (pollution abatement and site rehabilitation), Trez (electrolytic recycling treatment for zinc) and conducted 19 refinancing operations. The sale of its stake in Paprec, one of the leading independent players in the waste recycling sector in France, enabled Demeter to achieve a very high rate of return on its investments. Since it was created in 2005, Demeter has invested a total of €84 million.
